So, according to more of some good ole statistics, my hair was “going to fall out before (my) second cycle of chemo” because “that’s what usually happens.” So I had fun with it in the meantime. i’ve been wanting to change my hair up for a while and though I’m usually a pretty bold and impulsive person, let’s be real, shaving my head probably wasn’t gonna happen any time soon mostly because my hair was a big part of my perceived identity. So step 1; my last hair cut was surprisingly a lot of fun and incredibly liberating (see previous post). I’ve never been much of a girlie girl like that, I hate going to the hairdressers and general beauty grooming has never felt quite as enticing nor necessary as editing photos but I learn quick! Ha. Then step 2 was going to be the rest of it (bar a little left for myself, see left pic) once it had started falling… And so it began, i was starting to leave a trail of hair behind me, on pillows, in the shower, in my hands as i moved my fingers delicately through my hair and being important to me that i cut my hair before my donation became too thin, I decided to go ahead… So as usual, the slug slayer super crew were informed and we took over the salon, crew members were face timed in and cameras were clicking but as I sat in the chair, instructing @misookjj (my most wonderfully talented forever stylist/new friend/member of #teamslugslayer) to go easy, NOTHING CAME OUT. Yup, my hair has stopped falling out, at least for now and feels in remarkably stronger spirits than ever. And then step 3; off my hair goes to ‘Little Princess Trust’, a sweet charity that provides wigs to children who have lost their hair due to illness. Moral of the story? Statistics don’t mean shit and don’t wait to do something you want to do. Be your own statistic, make your own rules and though i’m learning it’s ok/necessary to be selfish sometimes, giving feels better. #LetGo #Rebirth #IAmNotMyHair #EmbracingTheNewMe #IDigIt #NewFoundVanity #WhoKnew?! #teamslugslayer #blessed #NeverForgetToSayThankYou www.littleprincesses.org.uk www.misooklondon.com 👆check ‘em out!!
